Happy Valentine's Day to this year's Top 10 Most Fanciable MPs:
1. (-) Julie Kirkbride. 46. Bromsgrove, Conservative.
2. (1) Caroline Flint. 45. Don Valley, Labour.
3. (-) Nick Clegg. 39. Sheffield Hallam, Lib Dem.
4. (9) Theresa May. 50. Maidenhead, Conservative.
5. (-) Shahid Malik. 39. Dewsbury, Labour.
6. (-) Dawn Butler. 37. Brent South, Labour.
7. (6) Lynne Featherstone. 55. Hornsey and Wood Green, Lib Dem.
8. (-) Angus MacNeil. 36. Na h-Eileanan An Iar, SNP.
9. (-) Nadine Dorries. 48. Mid Bedfordshire, Conservative.
10.(-) Ed Vaizey. 37. Wantage, Conservative.
It was a difficult and drawn out consultation process involving viewers, bloggers and in-house experts. Last year's rankings are given in brackets so as you can see only 3 have survived from 2006.
A stonking perfomance from first time entrant Julie Kirkbride, just pips perennial favourite Caroline Flint. Congratulations too to Lynne Featherstone and especially Theresa May for continuing to perform strongly, and to fresh female faces Dawn Butler and Nadine Dorries.
An equally spectacular entry takes Nick Clegg straight to the top of the male charts. The Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman has had a high profile recently and is widely seen as the likely lad to be next Lib Dem leader. Shahid Malik and Ed Vaizey have done well as commentators on Sky News this year, while we owe the Loans for Peerage inquiry to Angus MacNeil the crofter from the Western Isles.
Bubbling under the Top Ten this year were Tobias Elwood, Adam Afriye, Julia Goldsworthy, Andy Burnham and Jo Swinson. Better luck next year. Four Tory, three Labour, two Liberal Democrat and one Scottish Nationalist charmer then - though we should note that almost all our Westminster Belles and Beaux are spoken for.

Wot, no Caroline Spelman? She's gorgeous.

With beauty, brains and a sense of humour, who else but Julie could be no1?
Posted by: Peter Bromsgrove 19 Feb 2007 14:57:01
Always knew that we had the best looking MP!
Posted by: Tessa, Bromsgrove 18 Feb 2007 10:31:21
COULD THERE EVER HAVE BEEN ANY DOUBT WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN NO 1? AND 46 AS WELL AS A SUPER PERSONALITY.
Posted by: Peter Duddy 15 Feb 2007 23:23:26
Tory fancying, the love that dare not show its name.
Posted by: Vigornia 15 Feb 2007 14:24:37
Theresa May? Caroline Flint? Could someone please point Mr. Boulton in the direction of his nearest Specsavers!

Happy Birthday Adam.
Ming the Minger - I think so.

David Miliband... dreamy!

Do one on Sky On-Screen Staff with reasons for choice (we might get a glimpse of Cheryl someday).

Perhaps Adam could award the Boulton's babe of the week prize on his Sunday programme - awarded for the best (political) performance in Westminster during the previous week.

What about the rather lovely Justine Greening?

Hello, has anyone seen James Purnell!

Justin:
No BNP characters because they have no MPs therefore they have no representation at Westminster. I suspect that unless the Conservative Party go back to being The Conservative Party instead of the Cameron Party the BNP may well have some MPs after the next election.

What about Nick Herbert MP? Surely he should be in the top ten?
Posted by: Sam, London 14 Feb 2007 15:07:33
As a counter blast how about showing a group photo of the ugliest in the Labour cabinet? Prescott, Beckett, Armstrong, Straw et al.

Erm, what was the criteria for the term "fanciable"? Was there a "none of the above" option?

I understand Shahid Malik is still single. Surely that makes him the most eligible bachelor in the country with the future he looks to have ahead of him. What does Nick Clegg have that he doesn't? Puzzling.
Posted by: Jenna, Brent 14 Feb 2007 13:42:15
Wot? No attractive characters from the BNP in the top 10?
Posted by: Justin, Buckinghamshire 14 Feb 2007 13:23:08
I've reported Sky News to the United Nations for leaving out Lembit Opik.
You'll be very sorry when they do nothing about it, just you wait and see!

I wonder what Tony's crony the Director of Public Prosecutions, Sir Ken Macdonald, got his wife for Valentine's Day? Perhaps he forgot, she's apparently left the family home minus her wedding ring. I hope the DPP's use of taxpayers' money to fund his alleged affair is investigated and the CPS agree to being charges.

When Sir Menzies Campbell was elected leader of the Lib-Dems quite a few bloggers will remember I predicted that Nick Clegg would be the next Liberal Leader and that Sir Ming is grooming him for that job. I still think that and on top of that I too think he is very tasty and when I look at him I wish I was 40 years younger.
This may shock quite a few but even at 69 in a few days I still like to window shop but have never ever handles the marchandise even after 49 years soon to be 50 years of marriage.
For info only I did ask my spouse to read that and he says his secret passion is still one of the weather girls.

I nearly spilt "Mea Culpa" when you put this "Enigma" before me? Mind you, funny how Tone ain't in the top 10. I wonder what that means in political terms? By the way, looking at Page 4 The Times most recent, should be an interesting read.

Nice one Adam... Guido liked it too!

Hurrah for Julie!
Posted by: Ray Gillespie 14 Feb 2007 11:09:20
Yes, it would be very nice to see Julie Kirkbride on the TV screen much more often, as she appears to gone off the screen recently. How could I miss mentioning her in my previous posting on this matter?

Sorry Adam, should have gone to SpecSavers.
Caroline Flint is still number 1 but most of the other female picks leave a lot to be desired (or not...).

To balance up all the criticism about 'dumbing down', I feel it is only fair to point out that Adam's list isn't just of the youngest MPs, but does reflect some attractive people over 30. For all the criticism here, who on earth would think it unfair not to acknowledge how attractive Helen Mirren looked at the BAFTA awards, for example? That isn't to cast aspersions on the fact that she is a very good actress.
Although to be fair, I think Mr Boulton should also have been willing to put up a list of Top Ten most attractive presenters...
Lighten up folks, Valentine's Day isn't meant to be taken that seriously, you know.

Adam, you are going down market with this one,

Most fanciable MP, you'd think this was Rupert Murdoch's Sun Newspaper... oh, sorry.
Posted by: Peter, Fife 14 Feb 2007 10:41:43
This article by Adam highlights the decline in political journalism. Yes - by all means have a poll about who is the most effective MP, who votes against the party whip etc. All of this is relevant to the political process.
This article is not fun - it diminishes political dialogue and points to the decline in journalism.

Not only does he look the part but he works hard for Dewsbury - Its good to have a young and dynamic MP like Shahid.
Posted by: Nicola Jones, Dewsbury 14 Feb 2007 10:33:49
Shahid Malik - is there no end to this man's talents? It's a refreshing change to have an MP who not only does the business, but looks the business. Keep it up Shahid.

Whilst not strictly an MP, David Blunkett's dog certainly spends a lot of time in the House (when not tied to various bed posts) and would, I thought, have merited a mention?
It certainly serves a more useful purpose than most Labour MPs!

Can't argue with that Adam. Very nice.....
