It's National Fetish Day, apparently, and supporters are asked to wear a purple piece of clothing - a shirt, skirt, scarf, or whatever.
You may have read my earlier piece about Blyth Valley MP Ronnie Campbell who nearly supported the day, until he realised what the word "fetish" actually means.
With that in mind, I am sure we must read absolutely
nothing whatsoever into the fact that another Old Labour stalwart, no less a man than Dennis Skinner, the legendary Beast of Bolsover, was sporting a fine PURPLE shirt in the Commons this afternoon!
UPDATE: Mr Skinner wasn't the only one wearing purple in Parliament this afternoon. Was David Cameron expressing support for National Fetish Day!?

Nice to see some light hearted, not too serious threads, introduced. It breaks up the monotony of far,far too serious pontificators.

Dishonesty and delusion are plainly not the same thing, Morning Post.
Yes, Skinner might well vote for a monkey if it was wearing a Labour rosette.
And regrettably, that predeliction has been shared by sufficient numbers of the UK population to give Labour three consecutive turns at taking this once-wonderful country of ours and turning it into a third-rate community.
As a lifelong Tory, I just wish I could see a potential Tory PM who could turn that around. At present, however, I don't.

Cameron's tie is not purple. Really! I can assure you. It what we call Blue. You must have a problem with traffic lights.

Dennis Skinner may be many things but he remains consistent, not following any fads or jumping on convenient bandwagons, a true forerunner of wysiwig before its official creator Xerox had it commandeered by Microsoft.

Dennis Skinner is a dinosaur! The last of the class warriors who sincerely believe that everything Labour is good and everything Tory is bad! How on earth a ultra left wing firebrand like him could ever have supported Tony Blair to the hilt is a complete mystery to me! Thats not honesty its deceit and delusion! I guarantee that HE WOULD vote for a monkey wearing a Labour rosette!

I am a Tory voter and always have been.
But I'll tell you one thing .... as much as he's jeered and derided by his own side as well as by his political opponents, Skinner is by far the most honest man in the House of Commons.

Fetish for what? Anyone is a fetish in a way. It is a matter of taste and good taste.....

I'm very fond of the Beast of Bolsover who calls a spade a spade in his inimitable style.
I would love to hear his views on Tory Spiv Cammers but alas they would probably never be published.

National Fetish Day? Thank goodness I didn't wear my pvc trousers today!

Fetish day!
Now this is a parade I’d like to see :)
Have a nice one!!
I’m not even going to mention anything about the clueless MP! We all know the score when it comes to MPs not living in the real world but telling us how to run ours!!!!

Nice to see that Sky blogs are as important as ever....prioritised so well.
Now...you can either blog about the Beast wearing a purple shirt or the fact that there are more soldiers in Iraq than when Bottler said he was pulling a thousand out.
No contest obviously! Sky knows where the important stories are......
